Finding Content
Locating content on the board can be done several ways. Each way offers different options and it is entirely up to you to choose the way that best suits your needs. This section of the help file will discuss the different methods of locating content.
Browsing
Browsing the board is by far the most popular way to locate content. You can just click through each forum or category as you please and read the posts in any order you choose. There are several area's of the board that help organize the posts so that browsing content is easier.
Posted Today
This section lists all the topics and replies that were posted to the board today. You can use the forward and backward arrows at the top of the screen to navigate forward a day or back a day. You can also set the date on top which will list all topics and replies posted that day. This feature gives you a snapshot of the board on any given day.
The image above shows part of the "Posted Today" navigation bar which lets you jump to any day and view the posts from that day.
Most Active
This section lists the 60 most active posts on the bulletin board. A post is considered active when there is a high number of replies as compared to other posts. The list of posts in this section is ordered from the highest number of replies at the top.
Search
The search engine in this bulletin board is very powerful. You can use the search engine to locate posts based on content, author, date and or any combination of these options. The following section will cover the search engine and how to use it.
When you click on the search link you are presented with the dialog (shown above.) The search can be configured as follows:
Search Words
You can choose the words you want to search for. If you do enter keywords, you must also check either or both of the "Search Message Body" and or "Search Subject" boxes. If you do not want your search based on keywords, than skip this dialog and uncheck the "Search Message Body" and "Search Subject" boxes.This message board supports Boolean search operators. For more information about constructing search using Boolean operators, please see this section.
Choose the forum to search
You can direct your search to all forums on the board, or specific forums to help narrow down your search.Posted Since
If you check this box and select a date, it will find all content posted after the date you specify. This option can be used in conjunction with the Search Words and the Author search options to help narrow down your search.Authors Name
This option allows you to specify the username of the Author you want to search for. This option can be used in conjunction with the other options to help narrow your search results.
